Personal Childhood Web

I surround myself with people that make me feel welcomed, loved and respected. I am happy to know that these people are the same people I grew up with. My father, mother, older sister, grandmother and my aunt continue to be my inspiration to do the best I can do in whatever I put my mind to!

1. My father has influenced my life greatly. He has pushed me and supported my dreams, from giving me all the things I needed from a toy when I was a child till this present day. When I decided I wanted to continue my education in a Masters program last month without hesitation asked if I needed financial assistance to just take what I needed. Since I was a child, he has been an inspiration to me as he is a very dedicated and hard working man. He has taught me the value of earning a decent living, respect and honesty. He had become my buddy as I feel I can share anything with him. We are constantly present in our lives encouraging ourselves throughout our journey in life as men.

2. Throughout my life my mom has given me unconditional love so I have learned from her the meaning of forgiveness and humility. She has always been there for me, cheering me on in all of my music recitals throughout my childhood when I now have reviewed the videos and I was horrible. We share a similar mindset to which I can talk about any topic with her for hours. She is best friend.

3. I come from a family of two siblings. I have one sister which is a year and a half older than me. We grew together and we played the same neighbors and grew up with the same friends. Even though we argued a lot as children, we share a lot of love. She is very hard working like my father. Since we were young, I would follow her around the house because I wanted to be like her. She has taught me many things. She taught me how to swim and how to ride a bike. When we were older and she had decided to study child development. Even though I have my personal reasons that got me to this field, I still feel that she had an influence on that too. She is the person I can go to for motivation since she always has time to listen to me.

4. My grandmother has lived with us my whole life. She taught me how to care for others and to dream big. She is the person that has influenced me the most on my culture. She has always been the one in the kitchen making all sorts of dishes. As a child, I would love to be her assistant in the kitchen when we would have family gatherings. I feel I have become the next generation to carry on our family recipes. I am pleased to share my life with her as she worries for me when I am working late and I have not eaten. She supports me by now and then putting a snack in my brief case so I eat something on the job.

5. My aunt who is the oldest of my family and lives with us is an important role model for me. She is the type of person that tells it like it is. Her personality does not allow her to sugar coat anything. As a child she would keep me from doing the wrong thing. She would remind me of consequences to my actions and would always want to know who my friends were. I did not like that at the moment but I sooner than later understood that all she wanted to do was look out for me. She is over ninety years old but acts like she is half her age. She shares a lot of her past experiences and helps guide me to not make the same mistakes she did. Her insights on life have made me wiser in the decisions I make on a daily basis.
